Strange as Night

Strangers can be strange as night,
Why did you bring your native tongue?
Do not insult me trying to make me understand,
You inconvenience me by having to press 1.
You're in my land, speak my tongue.

You’d have me strip off my tongue,
My culture, my religion, my traditions
And erase every trace of who am.

Strangers can be strange as night.
Spew your blind hatred,
But in the darkness, when the light is gone
We’ll all be stumbling beggars,
Too afraid to go on.
